Terms of Service
Last updated 29 July 2026
These terms cover your use of Livalingo at livalingo.com and in our mobile apps. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the service.
What Livalingo is
Livalingo takes news articles and adapts them to your language level so you can learn by reading. Articles are rewritten automatically, blending your stronger language with the one you are learning, with word explanations, audio narration and review exercises.
Your account
You need an account to use Livalingo. Keep access to your email secure, since that is how you sign in. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person, and you must be at least 13 years old.
Free and Plus
The free tier lets you open two stories a day. Plus removes that limit and adds audio narration, offline downloads and the blend slider.
Plus costs $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year, and starts with a 7-day free trial. A promotional code may lower that price or lengthen the trial for the period it covers; after that the standard price applies. Prices may change; if they do, we will tell you before your next renewal and the change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Billing and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period using your saved payment method, until you cancel. Cancel any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for.
Cancel during the trial and you are not charged at all. If a renewal payment fails we will retry for a short grace period before the subscription lapses to the free tier — your saved words and history are not deleted.
Payments are handled by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record — your card statement shows Polar, and Polar issues the receipt and handles any sales tax or VAT. We never see or store your card details. If you believe you have been charged in error, write to hello@livalingo.com and we will look into it and refund where the charge was our mistake.
Content and ownership
News articles belong to the publications that wrote them. Livalingo links to the original and shows an adapted version for language learning; we do not claim ownership of the underlying journalism, and adapted text is provided for your personal study.
The Livalingo software, design and name are ours. Your saved words and learning history are yours — you can export or delete them.
Please do not scrape or bulk-download our content, resell it, or use automated tools to generate articles or audio at scale. Adapting an article and narrating it costs us money per request, which is why there are rate limits.
Accuracy
Articles are adapted, and word explanations and translations generated, by automated language models. They are usually good and occasionally wrong. Do not rely on Livalingo as a source of news, translation, or advice on anything that matters — check the original article, which we always link to.
Availability
We aim to keep Livalingo running but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give notice and refund any unused prepaid period.
Ending your account
Delete your account from Settings at any time. We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service, attacks it, or uses it unlawfully. If we close your account without cause, we will refund any unused prepaid period.
Liability
Livalingo is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will give notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Livalingo after that means you accept the new version.
